The SAFER (South Island Alpine Fault Earthquake Response) Framework represents the culmination of two years of collaboration and kōrero between researchers, organisations, agencies and community groups and was published in October 2018. It was intended to be a living framework – used across New Zealand to develop planning for the next national exercise taking place in September 2020 which will focus on the AF8 Scenario.

The AF8 SAFER Forum brings response agencies and stakeholders together again to discuss their work using the Framework. It will feature presentations on their work to date, demonstrating ideas and best practice, to ensure we will have a coordinated response to any future event. The Forum is planned for the day before the South Island CDEM conference at the same venue in Nelson.

Date: Wednesday 23 October 2019
Time: Registration opens 9am / Forum concludes 4pm
Venue: Trafalgar Centre, Nelson

Spaces are limited, please register your interest in attending via the form below. Thank you.

1 Step 1
South Island Civil Defence Emergency Management Conference 2019

The Civil Defence Emergency Management South Island Conference will be the only opportunity this year for CDEM groups and partnering agencies to get together on this scale, as MCDEM have confirmed that they will not be hosting a national conference in 2019.

Date: 24-25 October 2019
Venue: Trafalgar Centre, Nelson

With a focus on back to basics you’ll hear from a wide range of speakers across various sectors of the industry. The conference is a great opportunity to network, build good relationships, align thinking and share learnings. It aims to provide a platform for those conversations.

Please register your interest in attending via the conference website: Earlybird registrations close on Monday 30th September. Thank you.
